Skoda Roomster Diesel Automatic Transmission Problems

I am experiencing some issues with my 2010 Skoda Roomster diesel. The check engine light and transmission indicator light are both illuminated. The gearbox slips and shifts uncleanly, with grinding noises when shifting. I suspect a defective automatic transmission torque converter lock-up clutch, especially since the car has high mileage. I registered engine surge, too.

I have a Roomster as well, though I haven't explicitly checked the build year. I encountered similar symptoms some time ago check engine light, transmission indicator, and what I would describe as unclean shifting. Could be the torque converter clutch problem. Have you scanned for error codes? That's always my first step.

Yes, an error was stored in the error memory. Grinding noises when shifting gears were also present. Was your issue definitively a torque converter clutch problem? What was the resolution in your case?

Affirmative, the workshop confirmed it was the torque converter. The symptoms you describe, particularly the grinding, are consistent with my experience. The best course of action might be a visit to a workshop with experience in auto transmission diagnostics and repair. Continuing to drive with a suspected torque converter clutch problem could cause further damage to the auto transmission.

Thank you for the confirmation. I took it to a trusted workshop and it turns out the torque converter was indeed defective. The auto transmission converter was replaced, and the total transmission repair cost came to 2120€. Hopefully, this resolves the engine surge issues as well.
