Skoda Roomster Diesel Engine Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Skoda Roomster with a diesel engine is experiencing reduced horsepower, a check engine light, and smoke when accelerating. The issue is suspected to be related to a defective crankcase ventilation valve (PCV valve), which regulates pressure in the crankcase. A similar problem was resolved by replacing the PCV valve, and it is recommended to have a professional handle the repair. After replacement, the vehicle's performance returned to normal.

Rough idle sometimes, yeah! PCV valve, huh? Where is that thing located, and is it a tough job to replace? I'm not a total noob, but I don't want to mess anything up. I've read something about maintenance and leak around the crankcase...

Yep, sounds like textbook PCV valve failure. I wouldn't recommend tackling it yourself unless you're really confident. It can be a bit fiddly, and you don't want to cause any more problems. Best bet is to take it to a workshop. At least you know what to tell them now!

Dude, thanks a million! You were spot on. I took it to a mechanic, and it was the PCV valve. Cost me 360€, but she's running like new again. Really appreciate the help!

Whoa, sounds like a familiar story! I had a similar problem with my Roomster – same symptoms, engine light and everything. It was the crankcase ventilation valve, or PCV valve as some call it. Basically, it's supposed to regulate the pressure in the crankcase, and when it goes bad, you can get all sorts of weird issues. Is your idle rough too?
