Skoda Roomster Diesel Engine Running Lean

My 2008 Skoda Roomster with a diesel engine is giving me fits. It has 207176 km on the clock and I suspect it's running too lean. The symptoms include reduced engine power, the check engine light illuminating, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. I've been doing some research and suspect a defective injection valve or injector. Before I dive in too deep, does anyone have experience with similar issues?

Reduced power and a check engine light? That sounds concerning. Have you checked the usual suspects like spark plugs, even though it's a diesel? I'm not sure if diesels have those. Could also be the EGR valve or maybe the oxygen sensor playing up. Just throwing some ideas out there.

Thanks for the suggestions. Spark plugs are not used in diesel engines. As for the EGR valve and oxygen sensor, how would I go about checking those specifically? I'm hesitant to start blindly replacing parts.

Well, I am no expert but those symptoms do sound like fuel starvation. If you've ruled out the obvious stuff like a clogged fuel filter or issues with the mass air flow sensor, and you suspect the injectors, it might be best to get it professionally diagnosed. It could also be something with the catalytic converter. Messing with fuel injection can be tricky, and you could end up doing more harm than good. A mechanic should be able to pinpoint the exact problem.

Thank you for your input. I bit the bullet and took it to a mechanic. Turns out you were right, it was indeed the injection valve. Repair cost me 515€, but at least the Roomster is running smoothly again.
