Skoda Roomster Diesel Power Loss After Tuning

I'm pulling my hair out here. My 2013 Skoda Roomster diesel has suddenly developed a problem. The engine power is significantly reduced, and there is an error stored in the error memory. I've got a check engine light glaring at me. I suspect it might be related to some dodgy chip tuning the previous owner had done. Anyone else had this issue?

I had a similar issue with my Roomster. Have you used a scan tool to read the diagnostic code? Check engine light came on for me too. Turned out to be a problem with the ECU after a remap.

You also had issues after a remap? What exactly was the problem, and how did you fix it? I'm trying to avoid a costly trip to the main dealer if possible!

Yep, same problem. The diagnostic code pointed to an ECU issue caused by a poorly executed remap. I'd recommend getting it checked out by someone who knows what they're doing. A garage with decent vehicle diagnostics equipment should be able to confirm if the tuning is the issue. If it is, they'll probably need to reflash the ECU back to the original software.

Took the Roomster to the local independent garage. They ran vehicle diagnostics and confirmed the suspicion. Some cowboy chip tuning outfit had messed with the ECU. They reflashed it back to the factory settings. Cost 180€ but at least the dashboard light is off and the car is running smoothly again. Thanks for your help, really appreciate it!
