Skoda Roomster Engine Light Air Valve Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Skoda Roomster with a gasoline engine at 190071 km is experiencing a persistent check engine light, suspected to be related to the air valve and air intake system. The issue was traced to a faulty hose connection from the air pump to the valve, causing a vacuum leak and manifold pressure issues. After replacing the faulty hose connection, the check engine light was resolved.

Interesting. Could you elaborate on which vacuum hoses you are referring to specifically? Were there any particular symptoms that led you to suspect those hoses, and were there any diagnostic steps you took before suspecting vacuum leak? I want to ensure I am covering all avenues thoroughly.

In my case, it was primarily the hoses connected to the manifold pressure sensor. The engine light was intermittent at first, and I did experience some rough idling occasionally. Ultimately, I took it to a workshop. They performed a smoke test to identify the leak. Considering your mileage, it is quite possible that you have a similar situation with degraded vacuum hoses causing idle problems over time.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. After a bit more diagnostics, I discovered a faulty hose connection from the air pump to the valve, causing a vacuum leak and manifold pressure issues. Replacement cost me approximately 175€. The engine light is now off.

A check engine light, combined with potential air intake issues, can be tricky. I had a similar experience with my old Fiat, although the engine was quite different. Have you checked the vacuum hoses for any cracks or leaks around the throttle body? That could cause idle problems and throw a code.
