Skoda Roomster Oil Pressure Warning Light

I am deeply concerned about a recurring issue with my 2006 Skoda Roomster gasoline engine, which has 162874 km on it. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up intermittently, and the speedometer displays a warning light. I suspect oil contamination may be the culprit. Could this be related to an exceeded maintenance interval, possibly leading to engine damage?

The oil pressure warning lamp illuminates often due to oil contamination. I had a similar problem with my Opel Astra. The root cause can be traced to exceeding the maintenance interval. Have you checked for oil sludge?

Thank you for your insight. When you experienced oil sludge in your Opel Astra, did you also notice any other symptoms besides the oil pressure warning? Were oil additives required to resolve the oil contamination?

Indeed, the oil pressure warning was the primary symptom. In my situation, no oil additives were required, but I would recommend a workshop visit to get an assessment. Engine damage can occur if the oil pressure is critically low.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It appears the maintenance interval was indeed exceeded, causing significant oil contamination and sludge. The oil pressure warning lamp was triggered as a result. I had the oil and filter changed, and the system flushed. The total repair cost was 165€. I will certainly adhere to the maintenance schedule from now on to prevent further engine damage.
