Skoda Roomster Oil Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2008 Skoda Roomster experienced intermittent oil sensor warning lights and an error code related to the engine oil temperature sensor. The likely cause was suspected to be a defective cable or plug connection. After checking the oil level and using a diagnostics tool, it was confirmed that the issue was indeed a faulty connection to the oil temperature sensor. The problem was resolved at a workshop, costing 95€.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I checked the oil level immediately, and it was fine. By 'error stored in the error memory' I mean that I used a car diagnostics tool (a cheap one from a friend, to be honest) and it gave me a code indicating a problem with the engine oil temperature sensor. But could it really be just a faulty connection?

Okay, the fact that you got a specific error code pointing to the oil temperature sensor makes it pretty likely that's the issue. And yes, a faulty connection is a common cause. The car diagnostics tool you used probably pulled a generic code. Although it's possible the sensor itself is faulty, these can be a bit fiddly. Honestly, given the symptoms, it would be best to get it checked out by a workshop before you cause any further damage to the engine.

Just letting you know, the Roomster went to the shop, and you were right. It was the oil temperature sensor. The cable connection was faulty. Cost 95€ to fix. Thanks again for your help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Skoda Octavia. The oil sensor can be a bit temperamental. When the oil gauge light came on, did you check the actual oil level to rule that out first? Also, what exactly do you mean by 'error stored in the error memory'? Did you use a car diagnostics tool?
