Skoda Roomster tire pressure warning

I'm about to lose my mind over this tire pressure thing. I have a Diesel 2007 Skoda Roomster. For the past few days, the tire pressure warning light keeps flashing on the dashboard. The pressure gauge shows that the front tire is suspiciously low. Of course, I checked all the tires, and they seem fine, no flat tire at all! There's also an error message stored in the error memory. My gut feeling is that it's the sensor battery that's giving up.

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around a persistent tire pressure warning light issue in a 2007 Skoda Roomster. The initial problem is suspected to be due to a low front tire, but further investigation suggests a failing tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor, likely due to a depleted battery. The solution involves replacing the entire sensor unit, as the battery cannot be replaced separately, and requires professional installation and programming at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my Skoda Roomster. The symptoms were identical: low tire pressure warning and a fault code in the system. In my case, the tire pressure monitoring system sensor in one of the wheels failed. It is a common problem, and the root cause is often a depleted battery in the sensor itself.

Right, that sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing! Did you also have to replace the whole sensor, or is there a way to just change the battery? And did you do it yourself, or did you need a special tool?

Unfortunately, the sensors are sealed units, so you have to replace the entire thing. It is not something you can do yourself unless you have the tools for it. I would recommend taking it to a workshop, as they need to be properly programmed to the car after installation. It's a pain, but it will ensure the TPMS works correctly.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom. I took your advice and went to the local garage. Turns out, just like you said, the sensor battery was dead. Had to replace the whole thing, cost me around 280€, but at least the annoying light is gone and the pressure gauge is working normally again!
