Skoda Roomster Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Skoda Roomster was experiencing a transmission oil pressure sensor fault, causing the vehicle to enter limp mode with error codes, slipping, and grinding noises. The issue was suspected to be related to the sensor or wiring. A similar case with a Skoda Octavia suggested checking the gearbox oil level, as low oil can cause pressure sensor errors. After topping up the oil, the problem was resolved, eliminating the error codes and restoring normal operation.

Interesting. Where exactly is the oil level check point on the Roomster's gearbox? And what 'spec' am I looking for? Any idea what the procedure involves? Any special tools needed?

Don't know the specifics for the Roomster, but yeah, low oil level was the culprit in my Octavia. The pressure switch was throwing errors because it wasn't getting enough pressure. Topped it up, cleared the fault codes, and it was fine. Get it checked at a workshop.

Right, all sorted! Turns out the oil level was low, just like you said. Topped it up, cleared the error, and so far so good. No more nasty noises or limp mode. New sensor cost 45€, oil and labour with diagnostics 320€. Total damage 365€. Massive thanks for the heads up!

Sounds familiar. I've got a Skoda Octavia, and I had similar transmission issues a while back. First thing I'd check is the gearbox oil level. Is it within spec?
