Skoda Scala Air Conditioning Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Skoda Scala with a diesel engine is experiencing an air conditioning issue where the system no longer cools or switches on. A potential cause identified is a defect in one or more valves within the AC system. Suggestions include checking the pressure switch and considering professional diagnostics to accurately identify and resolve the issue. Ultimately, a faulty valve was confirmed as the problem, and the repair was completed at a garage.

Interesting point about the pressure switch. Is there a way to test that myself, or is it something that requires specialized equipment? I haven't noticed any strange noises, and the blower motor seems to be working fine, but I can't recall the last time I had any AC maintenance done beyond the usual filter replacement during servicing.

Testing the pressure switch usually requires an AC manifold gauge set, which most people don't have. Given that the system isn't even attempting to engage, and you're suspecting a valve issue, it might be best to get it checked by a workshop with the right diagnostic tools. They can properly diagnose the issue and pinpoint the exact component that's failed. Could save you money in the long run versus replacing parts based on guesswork.

Took the Scala to a garage and, as suspected, a faulty valve within the AC system was the culprit. Repair cost came to around 1000€. Thanks for the input; it helped me narrow things down.

That's a bummer about your AC. First thing I'd check is the pressure switch. A faulty one will prevent the compressor from kicking on, even if the system is fully charged. Have you noticed any unusual AC noise lately, maybe a hissing sound? Also, when was the last time you had AC maintenance done? A clogged cabin filter can reduce AC efficiency significantly.
