Skoda Scala Coding Error

I've got a bit of a situation with my 2021 Skoda Scala, gasoline engine. Mileage is sitting at 169223 km. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, plus an error message pops up on the infotainment system and also on the speedometer. I ran a diagnostic scanner, and it's pointing towards the coding of the vehicle being incorrect. Anyone else run into something like this? I understand this might trigger the malfunction indicator, but I'm not clear on what to do next. Any advice?

I had something similar happen with my Scala. Kept getting a check engine light and messages on the dash. Did you try using an OBD-II diagnostic scanner to read the fault code? That's what I did. It gave me a clue, but I wasn't sure what to do with it. What code did you get?

Yeah, I used a diagnostic scanner. Got the code, but it pointed towards some sort of coding issue. You mentioned a similar problem – was it definitely the coding in your case? And did you manage to reset codes yourself, or did you need to get it sorted at a workshop?

Yep, sounds exactly like what I went through. The OBD-II scanner will give you the error code, but fixing it is another story. A 'coding issue' usually means something within the car's computer system needs to be reprogrammed. You'll probably need to take it to a workshop that has the right software and knows how to recode the affected module. I wouldn't recommend trying to reset codes yourself in this situation; it might make things worse.

Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Incorrect coding was indeed the culprit. They recoded the module, cleared the errors, and everything seems to be running smoothly now. Cost me 360€. Thanks for the heads up!
