Skoda Scala Diesel Engine Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Skoda Scala with a diesel engine experienced reduced power and an illuminated check engine light. Possible causes included a defective throttle valve, accelerator pedal module, or related electronics. A similar issue was resolved by addressing the throttle body and checking for air intake obstructions. The throttle body was confirmed as the problem, and after replacement, the car's performance returned to normal.

What exactly are the throttle body and throttle position sensor? Is limp mode dangerous for the engine?

The throttle body controls the amount of air entering the engine. The throttle position sensor tells the car's computer how far open the throttle is. If either fails, the engine doesn't get the right air-fuel mixture. Limp mode isn't immediately dangerous, but it restricts performance to protect the engine. I suggest getting it checked by a mechanic. It might be a throttle body issue or something else.

The workshop confirmed it was the throttle body. Replacement cost 265€. The car runs smoothly now. Thanks for the help.

I had similar symptoms on my Scala: reduced power and the engine light. It could be related to the throttle body. Have you checked the air intake for obstructions? A faulty throttle sensor can also cause these issues. When it happened to me, the car went into limp mode, a safety feature that limits engine power to prevent further damage. Response delay when accelerating is another symptom, possibly the throttle position sensor.
