Thanks for the advice. When you mention 'similar', do you mean the engine didn't even crank, or it cranked but didn't start? Also, did the engine light illuminate in your case as well?

Yes, in my case, the engine didn't crank at all. The engine light was on. It's worth checking the connections before assuming it's a more serious issue. However, if cleaning the battery terminals doesn't solve the problem, I would recommend taking it to a qualified mechanic for further diagnosis. It might be an ECU failure, which can be difficult to troubleshoot without proper equipment.

It turned out the cable connections to the battery were indeed the problem. After cleaning and tightening them, the engine started immediately. The total cost was 155€, which I find reasonable. Thank you for your help. It saved me from potentially unnecessary repairs. I appreciate it.

I experienced something similar with my Skoda Octavia. The engine light came on, and the car wouldn't start. Have you checked the battery connections? A loose or corroded connection can sometimes trigger an ECU failure and prevent the engine from starting.
