Skoda Scala Diesel Engine Refuses to Start

I am experiencing a rather frustrating issue with my 2019 Skoda Scala, diesel engine. The engine simply refuses to start. The engine light is illuminated, and diagnostics indicate an engine control malfunction, possibly related to an ECU failure. There were no prior symptoms like engine stalling or rough running. I suspect it may be related to the engine software, but I am not entirely certain. Has anyone encountered a similar problem, or could offer some insights before I consider taking it to a workshop?

I experienced something similar with my Skoda Octavia. The engine light came on, and the car wouldn't start. Have you checked the battery connections? A loose or corroded connection can sometimes trigger an ECU failure and prevent the engine from starting.

Yes, in my case, the engine didn't crank at all. The engine light was on. It's worth checking the connections before assuming it's a more serious issue. However, if cleaning the battery terminals doesn't solve the problem, I would recommend taking it to a qualified mechanic for further diagnosis. It turned out the cable connections to the battery were indeed the problem. After cleaning and tightening them, the engine started immediately. The total cost was 155€, which I find reasonable. Thank you for your help. It saved me from potentially unnecessary repairs. I appreciate it.
