Skoda Scala Diesel Engine Trouble

I'm experiencing some trouble with my 2020 Skoda Scala diesel. It has around 40549 km on the clock. The check engine light is on, and I'm noticing reduced engine power, rough engine running, and jerking when accelerating. It even stalls at idle sometimes. My mechanic suspects a mixture preparation error, likely a defective injection valve. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Reduced engine power and rough running sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Scala, although I can’t remember the exact mileage. Did you check the air-fuel ratio? Is it running a rich mixture? When was the last time you changed your spark plugs? Could also be something as simple as a dirty intake manifold. Have you tried any fuel injection cleaner?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the air-fuel ratio myself. How would I go about checking that, and what should I be looking for? I haven't tried any fuel injection cleaner yet, is it easy to do by myself?

Checking the air-fuel ratio is a bit involved without the right tools, so I'd probably leave that to a professional. As for the fuel injection cleaner, yes, you can add it yourself to the fuel tank. However, if it is indeed a faulty injector, cleaner might not solve the issue. Given all the symptoms you described, including the stalling, it does sound quite similar to what I had. The best thing would be to have your mechanic take a closer look at the fuel injection system.

Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! Defective fuel injector. Repair cost was 515€. Thanks a lot for your help!
