Skoda Scala diesel generator issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2020 Skoda Scala with a diesel engine experiencing issues such as reduced engine power, warning lights, difficulty starting, and flickering lights, suggesting a faulty generator. The suspected cause is a defective alternator, which may require replacement. A suggestion to check the alternator's voltage output and the serpentine belt was made, but ultimately, professional diagnosis and alternator replacement resolved the issue.

Thank you for your input. I do not have a multimeter at hand to measure voltage. Is there any other method to verify?

Without a multimeter, it's more difficult to pinpoint the issue definitively. The serpentine belt is important to check, as is the state of car electronics in general. However, considering the array of symptoms you are experiencing, including the stored error code, it strongly suggests an alternator malfunction. I would suggest taking it to a reputable workshop for a professional diagnosis and alternator replacement. It is better to do this than risk further damage to other components.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It seems my initial diagnosis was correct. I proceeded with the alternator replacement, and the error is now resolved. The final bill came to 960€, which is in line with what I expected. I appreciate your assistance in confirming the potential cause.

I encountered a similar issue on my Skoda Scala. The symptoms you describe, especially the reduced engine power and flickering lights, point towards a potential problem with the alternator. Have you checked the voltage output of the alternator with a multimeter? A significant voltage drop could confirm it. It is also good to check the serpentine belt that drives the alternator.
