Skoda Scala diesel limp mode issue

I am experiencing a concerning issue with my 2019 Skoda Scala diesel. The vehicle has entered a limp home mode with the transfer case seemingly affected. I am observing gearbox slippage and unclean gear changes. The repair shop suspects consequential faults stemming from potential issues within the ABS system. Could this be related to a faulty gear selector? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

That sounds like a tricky situation. I had similar symptoms with my old Volvo a few years back – gearbox slipping, unclean shifts. It turned out to be a fault in the traction control system causing the transfer case to behave erratically. Have you checked for any ABS-related error messages or warning lights?

Thank you for the swift reply. Could you elaborate on how a fault in the traction control system impacted the transfer case? I am trying to understand the possible connection.

Certainly. In my case, the faulty traction control sent incorrect signals to the car's computer, which in turn affected the transfer case. This caused it to mismanage power distribution, resulting in the slipping and rough shifting you describe. Although it is worth checking the gear selector, I would suggest you have the control module inspected. I would recommend taking your car to a workshop.

I took the Scala to a certified repair shop and it was indeed a control module issue, seemingly linked to the ABS system. Thankfully, it was covered under warranty, so the repair cost was 0€.
