Skoda Scala Diesel Particulate Filter Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Skoda Scala diesel with 226,679 km is experiencing reduced engine power and smoke during acceleration, suspected to be due to a defective diesel particulate filter (DPF). The issue is likely caused by DPF backpressure, as suggested by another individual who experienced similar symptoms with a different vehicle. While DPF cleaning solutions may offer temporary relief, a complete filter replacement is often necessary to resolve the problem effectively.

DPF cleaning? I've seen some kits online. Did it work for you, and for how long? I'm trying to avoid a complete diesel filter replacement if possible.

The DPF cleaning helped temporarily on the Peugeot, maybe a month or two. But the underlying problem returned quickly. Given your symptoms, especially the smoke, I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop. Sounds like filter replacement might be necessary.

Appreciate the insight. Turns out the diesel particulate filter was indeed defective. Had to bite the bullet and get a filter replacement. Cost me 1550€. Hopefully, my fuel efficiency will return to normal now.

Reduced engine power and smoke? Sounds like DPF backpressure. I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot. Have you tried any DPF cleaning solutions?
