Skoda Scala immobilizer problem

My Skoda Scala with a diesel engine is giving me grief. The engine refuses to start most of the time. Sometimes it'll fire up for a second and then die immediately. Error memory is showing something related to the car immobilizer. I'm betting it's incorrect key programming. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds like a classic car immobilizer issue. Is the security light flashing on the dash when you try to start it? Have you tried your spare key?

Yeah, the security light is going nuts. I only have the one key. If it's the key programming, is that a dealer-only job, or can any decent shop handle that?

Sounds like the ECU isn't recognizing the key. Key programming is usually the culprit. While some independent shops might have the equipment, car electronics can be tricky, and a dealer has the specific software and access codes. Probably best to get it sorted at a workshop.

You were spot on! It was indeed the key programming. 45€ later, and she's purring again. Thanks for the help!
