Skoda Scala Transmission Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Skoda Scala owner is experiencing transmission issues, with the check engine and transmission lights on, gearbox slips, and grinding noises when shifting. The error memory indicates a potential defect in the automatic transmission converter, likely involving the lock-up clutch. A similar issue was resolved in another vehicle by replacing the torque converter, suggesting that a workshop visit is necessary for diagnosis and repair. The problem was confirmed as a torque converter failure, which was repaired, restoring smooth operation.

The error code pointed to a general transmission fault. You mentioned a similar issue on your Volvo. Was it also a converter failure or something else?

Yes, it was the torque converter on my Volvo. Think of it like a slipping clutch in a manual car, but much more complex and expensive to fix. Given your symptoms and the error code, I'd say a trip to a workshop is unavoidable. They'll be able to confirm the failure and give you a proper diagnosis.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. Turns out the torque converter was indeed gone. Cost me 2120€ to get it sorted, but at least it's running smoothly again.

That sounds remarkably similar to an issue I experienced with my Volvo a few years back. The symptoms, especially the engine surge and unclean shifts, are telltale signs. Was there any error code associated with the lock-up clutch specifically?
