Skoda Superb Brake Light Failure

I am writing to report a concerning issue with my 2020 Skoda Superb diesel. I am experiencing a failure of the brake lights, accompanied by an error message displayed in the infotainment system. The error memory indicates a problem with the brake light switch. Could anyone offer some advice on diagnosing this electrical issue?

That sounds frustrating. An automotive switch, especially one related to the brake system, is crucial for vehicle safety. First, have you checked the error memory using an OBD2 scanner to get a more detailed code? Also, are all the brake lights failing, or just one? Have you recently had any work done on the brake system?

Thank you for your prompt response. I did use an OBD2 scanner, and it indicated a fault with the brake light switch circuit. All three brake lights were indeed not functioning. I have not had any recent work done on the brake system. Could a faulty connection or a simple fuse be the culprit? Where is the fuse located?

Okay, since all brake lights are out and the scanner points to the switch, a faulty connection or fuse is plausible, but less likely if all lights failed simultaneously. The fuse box location should be in your owner's manual. Given the error code and the safety implications of the brake system, I'd recommend a visit to a qualified workshop for switch replacement or further diagnostics. It's probably a straightforward switch replacement.

I appreciate you taking the time to assist me. I managed to resolve the issue myself. Turns out my foot was slightly depressing the brake pedal, causing the brake light switch to activate continuously. After adjusting my seating position, the error disappeared, and the system is functioning correctly now. A simple user error it seems, and a 0€ fix.
