I did check the fuse box, but I didn't find any blown fuse. I'm not sure where the speed sensor is located, or how to check it. There is an error stored in the error memory. Any further ideas?

It sounds like it could be a cable or plug connection issue. Given that there's an error code being stored, and you've already checked the fuse, further diagnosis gets tricky without the right tools. It could be the clock spring, but I'd recommend a workshop visit for proper diagnostics. They'll be able to pinpoint the exact cause and give you a quote.

Took the car to the workshop. They found and replaced a defective plug connection. The cruise control is now working. Total cost was 95€.

I had a similar issue with my Superb. First, check the fuse box. A blown fuse can cause the cruise control to stop working. Are there any dashboard light warnings? Has any recent work been done that might have disturbed a speed sensor?
