Skoda Superb Diesel Engine Issue

I am experiencing an issue with my 2007 Skoda Superb diesel. I have noticed an increase in fuel consumption coupled with a reduction in engine power. The check engine light has also illuminated. Diagnostics suggest a cylinder pressure fluctuation. Could this be a sign related to the piston rings, head gasket, timing belt, crankshaft, or even the camshaft? I'm hoping it is just a consequential error resulting from another error.

I also drive a Skoda Superb, although I don't recall the exact year. I once experienced similar symptoms, higher fuel consumption and reduced engine power. The check engine light was also a persistent issue. Have you checked the basics like air filters and fuel filters? What diagnostic codes are you getting?

Thank you for sharing your experience. Regarding the diagnostic codes, the error message points towards cylinder pressure fluctuation. I have already replaced the air and fuel filters but the problem persists. Did your issue also point towards cylinder pressure or something else entirely?

Yes, the error code I received also indicated cylinder pressure issues. It turned out to be a sensor malfunction that triggered a chain reaction of error messages. I suggest you take your car to a trusted workshop for a comprehensive diagnostic assessment. It could save you from unnecessary repairs.

I'm happy to say that after a diagnostic check at the workshop, the fluctuating cylinder pressure was a ghost code. It stemmed from a faulty sensor that was misreporting data. Replacing the sensor resolved the issue, and the car is running smoothly again. Thankfully, the repair cost was minimal. Thank you for your input and reassurance.
