Skoda Superb Diesel Engine Problems

I own a 2018 Skoda Superb with a diesel engine. Recently, I have experienced several issues with the engine. The car is jerking when accelerating, and the check engine light is illuminated. I have checked the error memory, and it indicates a problem with the intake manifold. Furthermore, I am experiencing reduced engine power, the engine occasionally stalls at idle, and the engine is running rough. There is also a strong exhaust smell. I suspect a defective intake manifold, potentially leaking due to scorching. Could this be the cause, and what should be my next steps?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Skoda Superb with a diesel engine is experiencing issues such as jerking during acceleration, an illuminated check engine light, reduced engine power, occasional stalling, rough running, and a strong exhaust smell. The error memory indicates a problem with the intake manifold, suspected to be leaking due to scorching. The suggested solution is to check the manifold sensor and, if necessary, take the car to a workshop for diagnosis and repair. The problem was confirmed to be a leaking intake manifold, and after repair, the engine runs smoothly again.

I had a similar issue with my Skoda Octavia, it also has a diesel engine. The check engine light illuminated, and the car felt sluggish, especially when accelerating. Did you check the manifold sensor? Sometimes, a faulty sensor can trigger those symptoms. It could be the air intake causing the problem if it is not reading correctly.

Thank you for your response. I will check the manifold sensor first. When your Octavia had this problem, were there any other symptoms besides the check engine light and sluggish acceleration? Did your engine stall, or did you notice a strong exhaust smell?

Those additional symptoms sound very familiar. My Octavia did not stall completely, but it felt like it wanted to. The strong exhaust smell is another indicator. It really sounds like the intake manifold is the culprit. In my case, the intake manifold was leaking. Given the error code you are getting and the symptoms, I would suggest taking your Superb to a workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair. Ignoring it could lead to further engine damage. Think of it like a blocked artery in your car's engine; you need to address it to keep everything running smoothly.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems my Superb is exhibiting very similar symptoms. I took your advice and visited my trusted workshop. As suspected, it was indeed the intake manifold. The mechanics confirmed the scorching. The total repair cost came to 1180€. Now the engine runs smoothly again!
