Skoda Superb Diesel Preheating Lamp Issue

My 2006 Skoda Superb with a diesel engine is giving me trouble. The preheating lamp won't switch off, and the check engine light is on. I'm also getting noticeable smoke when accelerating. I suspect a defective glow control unit. With high mileage, I'm betting on a cable or plug connection issue to the component. Has anyone experienced this before?

I had a similar problem with my Skoda Superb. The preheating lamp stayed on, and the engine light came on. I also noticed more smoke than usual when accelerating. Did you check the glow plug relay? That was the problem for me.

Interesting. Where is the glow plug relay located, and how can I check it? I'm thinking it's a faulty connection somewhere, given the mileage.

I recall the engine misfiring during cold starts too. I'm not sure about the exact location without looking it up, and I wouldn't recommend poking around too much if you're not familiar. I eventually took it to a workshop and they sorted it out quickly. That might be the safest option.

Thanks for the input. It turned out to be a faulty cable connection to the glow plug control unit. A quick workshop visit, cost 95€, and the Superb is running smoothly.
