Skoda Superb Electrical Malfunctions and Navigation Issues

I own a 2018 Skoda Superb with a diesel engine, and it has approximately 149925 km on the odometer. Recently, I have been experiencing some vehicle software issues. Specifically, there is an error stored in the error memory, and I am also observing general electrical malfunctions. Strangely, the navigation system is also without function. Could this be related to some ECU problems?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Skoda Superb owner reported experiencing electrical malfunctions and a non-functional navigation system, suspecting a potential ECU problem. The onboard diagnostics indicated an error related to the control unit programming. A suggestion was made to check for a software fix, as similar issues were resolved by correcting corrupted vehicle software. The owner followed this advice, and after a software correction at a workshop, the issues were resolved.

That sounds quite concerning. I believe I experienced a somewhat similar situation with my Skoda Superb, though I must admit I am not entirely sure if it is exactly the same. Did the onboard diagnostics point to any specific ECU problems? In my case, the navigation system was also acting up, and there were some general electrical malfunctions, which could possibly be related to the control unit. It might be worth checking if a software fix is available for your car.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, the onboard diagnostics does mention an error stored in the error memory. It indicates a problem with the programming of the control unit, which seems implausible. I am not very familiar with software fixes for cars. Could you please provide more details on what exactly I should check or ask the workshop to do?

Right, an implausible control unit programming does sound like a potential cause for your symptoms. In my case, the workshop confirmed that the vehicle software on the control unit was indeed corrupted, and that was the root cause of the electrical issues and the navigation problems. If you are not comfortable performing a software correction yourself, I would strongly recommend taking it to a trusted workshop that specializes in Skoda vehicles. They should be able to perform a software correction or reflash the control unit with the correct programming. Do not delay this, as electrical issues can sometimes lead to further complications.

Thank you very much for your help and insights. I took your advice and went to the workshop. They confirmed the error in the control unit programming. After a vehicle software correction, everything seems to be working fine now. Cost me around 240€
