Interesting. Did you also experience a complete parking brake failure accompanied by a warning light on the dashboard? Was there an error code stored?

Yes, the symptoms were identical. Complete failure, warning light, and error code. I would suggest taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. They will probably tell you to replace the caliper.

Appreciate the insight. Turns out the electric motor in the brake caliper was indeed the culprit. Cost me around 505€ to get it sorted. Hopefully, this information will be useful for anyone else encountering similar parking brake issues.

I had a similar issue with my Superb. Was the brake switch checked? Could also be a brake sensor acting up.
