Skoda Superb engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Skoda Superb experienced significant engine power loss, described as feeling like driving a tractor. The issue was linked to an error stored in the vehicle's memory, suspected to be caused by faulty chip tuning from a third-party. A diagnostic confirmed the problem, and after addressing the chip tuning issue, the engine power was restored, and the check engine light was cleared.

Yeah, the 'check engine' light is on alright. I'm not really a car guy; what exactly do you mean by car diagnostic? Is that something I can do myself?

By vehicle diagnostics, I mean using an auto scanner to read the fault code. You can buy a cheap one online, but honestly, it's probably easier to just take it to a workshop. If it is the chip tuning, they should be able to sort it. Good luck!

Huge thanks for your help! I took it to a local guy with an auto scanner, and he confirmed the error. It seems like the previous owner had some chip tuning done that went bad. Cost me 180€ to get it sorted, but at least the check engine light is gone, and the power is back!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar engine issue with my Superb. Reduced power and the check engine light came on. Did you do a car diagnostic?
