Skoda Superb Hybrid Engine Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Skoda Superb hybrid was experiencing reduced engine power, jerking during acceleration, and smoke emissions. The suspected cause was deposits in the combustion chamber. After a workshop visit, it was confirmed that combustion chamber deposits were the issue, and cleaning resolved the problem, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Pre-ignition? Detonation? I'm not familiar with these terms. The jerking happens when accelerating, especially uphill. How do I check the spark plugs and ignition timing?

Pre-ignition is when the fuel-air mixture ignites before the spark plug fires. Detonation is an uncontrolled explosion of the fuel-air mixture. Both can cause knocking. Checking spark plugs involves removing them and looking for wear or fouling. Ignition timing is more complex and often requires special tools. Given the smoke and error code, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly and avoid further damage. Maybe it is engine tuning related, but it's hard to say without seeing it.

Thanks for the insight. It was indeed combustion chamber deposits. The workshop cleaned it, and it runs smoothly now. Cost me 425€, but worth it to have the power back.

Sounds like pre-ignition or detonation. Does it happen more when the engine is hot? I had a similar issue with my Superb. Have you checked your spark plugs and ignition timing? What fuel octane are you using?
