Skoda Superb Hybrid Low Coolant Mystery
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Skoda Superb hybrid owner experienced a persistent low coolant issue, with the check engine light on and no visible leaks. The problem could potentially be caused by a faulty water pump, head gasket, or air pockets. An error code suggested a defective cable or plug connection. After consulting with others, the owner took the car to a workshop, where a faulty connector on the water pump was identified and replaced, resolving the issue.

Mayo under the radiator cap? What am I looking for? Is the water pump easy to get to? I'm not a mechanic, but I can usually manage the basics.

The mayo is like a brownish sludge, which indicates head gasket failure. If you see that, it's bad. The water pump is a bit of a squeeze to get to. With a hybrid, and that error code, I’d take it to a workshop. It could be a simple fix, but better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the help. I took it to the shop, and it was a faulty connector on the water pump. A new connector was fitted, the error was cleared, and it cost me 95€. Still cheaper than a new head gasket though.

Low coolant on these can be a pain. I had similar issues on my Superb. Check the water pump first, it's a common issue. Is there any mayo under the radiator cap?
