Skoda Superb Solar Sensor Issue

Alright, so I have a Skoda Superb, build year 2004, diesel engine. Lately, I've been getting an error message related to the solar sensor. The heating seems to be underperforming, too cold especially. The error memory mentions a faulty solar sensor. I read somewhere it could be a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone else had this problem? Or any ideas on how to troubleshoot this further?

Hey there. I had a similar problem with my Superb. It was also the sunlight sensor. As far as I remember, the heating was a bit wonky, especially when the sun was shining directly on the dashboard. Did you already check the cable connections? That's what they told me to do first.

Thanks for the quick reply! Cable connections of the sunlight sensor, you mean? Where exactly is that thing located? And how did you eventually fix it?

Yeah, the cable connections going to the sunlight sensor on the dash. Honestly, I'm not that tech-savvy. I fiddled with the plug a bit, but it didn't really solve anything. In the end, I took it to a workshop. They replaced the sensor, did some sensor calibration, and that fixed it. So, might be worth checking the connection first, but don't be surprised if you need a new automotive temperature sensor installed by a professional. I recall something about sensor calibration being needed, don't think you can do this yourself.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. I think I'll bring it to the shop then. They said 95€ should cover it. Hopefully, that's the end of it!
