I haven't tested the voltage or anything. Honestly, I don't have the equipment or know-how for that. You mention other electrical issues. I haven't really noticed anything specific, but how would I know for sure if the car battery is the problem?

Based on your description, a heavily discharged or defective car battery is indeed the most probable cause. The system detects the low voltage and prevents the engine from shutting off to avoid getting stranded. Without proper testing equipment, it's difficult to diagnose definitively. I would recommend taking it to a qualified workshop for a battery test. They can confirm the battery's condition and advise on replacement.

Took it to the shop, and you were right. They checked the car battery and said it was heavily discharged and wasn't holding a charge well. I had them replace it. Total cost was 290€, but now the start-stop is working again. Thanks for the help!

The start-stop system, also known as idle stop or eco mode, relies heavily on a healthy car battery, especially in a hybrid vehicle. When the engine shuts off at a stop, the battery takes over powering all electrical systems. A weak battery can't handle that load. Does the engine crank slowly when starting, or do you notice any other electrical issues, like dimming lights? Have you tested the battery's voltage? It is also possible that the automatic restart is disabled.
