Skoda Superb starting issue

I am experiencing an issue with my 2009 Skoda Superb gasoline engine, mileage 177795 km. The engine refuses to start, and the error memory indicates a 'Terminal 15 ignition positive interrupted' fault. The diagnostic suggests a defective cable or plug connection. Could this be related to a faulty ignition switch? The car won't start. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Summary of the thread

The 2009 Skoda Superb faced a starting issue with an error indicating 'Terminal 15 ignition positive interrupted,' suggesting a defective cable or plug connection. This problem was suspected to be related to a faulty ignition switch. The solution involved inspecting the wiring and ignition switch, which led to identifying and repairing a defective cable at the ignition switch, resolving the issue.

A faulty Terminal 15, also known as circuit 15, can indeed cause your engine not to start. It's the ignition positive, providing power to various engine components when the ignition switch is in the 'on' or 'run' position. Have you checked the voltage at the starter solenoid when attempting to start the car? A break in the circuit could prevent the solenoid from engaging.

Thank you for your answer. I am familiar with the Terminal 15 function. Could you please elaborate on how to best test the starter solenoid in this specific situation, considering the error code points towards a potential cable or plug issue?

Given the error message and the symptoms, a defective cable or plug connection at the ignition switch is the most probable cause. While you could try testing the starter solenoid, the error code is quite specific. I would recommend visiting a workshop to have the wiring and the ignition switch thoroughly inspected. It's frustrating, I know, but specialized equipment can pinpoint the exact location of the circuit break much faster.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions. I took it to a workshop and they identified a defective cable at the ignition switch, just as the error code suggested. Repair cost 95€. Everything works as expected again.
