Interesting. Disconnecting the battery sounds straightforward enough, but I'm hesitant. When you say 'aftermarket work', was it coding-related specifically? And did disconnecting the battery solve the problem in your case or did you have to visit the workshop?

Yes, the issue on my BMW was directly linked to coding. Disconnecting the battery didn't resolve it unfortunately. It was like trying to cure a computer virus with a plaster. The sunroof system needed a proper calibration using diagnostic software. Given your suspicion of coding being the root cause, I would strongly recommend taking it to a workshop with the appropriate tools to reinitialize the sunroof calibration.

Took your advice and went to the workshop. Turns out, as suspected, the coding was indeed the issue. They reinitialized the sunroof system for 75€. Everything is working perfectly now. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds like a corrupted calibration. Had a similar issue with my BMW 3 Series after some aftermarket work. The sunroof operation went haywire, like a scene from a comedy film. Have you tried any basic troubleshooting steps, such as disconnecting the battery for a short period to reset the system?
