Skoda Superb Tailgate Issue

I'm experiencing a rather frustrating issue with my 2020 Skoda Superb (gasoline engine). The automatic tailgate is not opening fully. I've scanned the car with an OBD tool, and it's showing a hall sensor fault in the error memory. The mileage is at 32610 km. From what I've read, it might be a defective cable or plug connection to the hall sensor. Could this be the likely cause? I'm trying to gauge if I should attempt a DIY fix or just take it to the workshop. They quoted me around 95€ for the repair. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar issue with my Superb's tailgate. The automatic tailgate wouldn't fully open, and I also saw an error in the system. Did you check the tailgate motor itself? Sometimes that can be the culprit.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the tailgate motor directly, no. I am more familiar with the software side of things. When you say 'similar', was it also a hall sensor fault that you had?

Yes, it turned out to be a faulty hall sensor connection. Think of it like a loose wire on a lamp – the connection is intermittent, causing the light (in this case, the tailgate motor) to not function correctly. Given that they've already quoted you a price, and you're not too familiar with the mechanical side, I'd suggest letting the workshop handle it. It's probably just a quick fix for them.

Just got the car back from the workshop. You were spot on! It was indeed the hall sensor connection. They cleaned the contacts and re-seated the plug. Total cost was 95€, just like they estimated. Thanks for the help!
