Skoda Superb Transmission Issues

I'm having trouble with my 2023 Skoda Superb gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, the transmission indicator is lit, and the gearbox shifts roughly with a grinding noise. Diagnostics point to a defective automatic transmission torque converter lock-up clutch. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my Superb. Check engine light, transmission light, and the shifting felt like it was struggling. Did you notice any engine surge, almost like a misfire, at certain speeds? It could very well be the torque converter lock-up clutch. The lock-up clutch is meant to create a 1:1 ratio between the engine and transmission for efficiency, but when it fails, you get those symptoms.

An engine surge...yes, now that you mention it, I did notice something like that, especially around 80-100 km/h. So, your issue was definitely the torque converter then? Did you get any error codes read out? I'm seeing something about 'transmission converter performance' in my diagnostic tool.

Yep, that 'transmission converter performance' code is a smoking gun. Mine was the torque converter lock-up clutch for sure. I'd advise against driving it much further; you risk doing more damage to the transmission. Get it to a reputable workshop. They can confirm the converter failure and get it swapped out. It's not a cheap fix, but necessary to avoid catastrophic transmission failure.

Alright, appreciate the insight! I got it sorted at a certified workshop. Turns out, it was indeed the torque converter on its last legs. New converter, fresh transmission fluid, and the bill came to 2120€. Ouch. But she's running smooth again. Thanks for confirming my suspicions!
