Skoda Yeti Automatic Transmission Shifting Issues

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the transmission oil level myself, honestly. Never done it before. Is it something I can easily do at home, or do I need special tools? I don't think the Transmission oil has ever been changed, with 128489 km on the clock now on my 2009 Yeti. Where exactly would I be looking to check or change the Transmission oil?

Checking the transmission oil level on your own can be tricky, as it often requires specific tools and a lift to access the fill plug. And since you're unsure if the Transmission oil has ever been changed, it's probably the main cause of your Transmission problems. Given the symptoms and mileage, and the fact you're getting a transmission light, I'd recommend taking it to a qualified mechanic. They can properly diagnose the issue, check for any error codes, and perform a Transmission flush if needed. It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to automatic transmissions.

You were spot on! I took my Skoda Yeti to the workshop, and they confirmed it was low voltage causing the transmission to freak out. Turns out my battery was on its last legs. They replaced it and did a transmission flush while they were at it. Now it's shifting smoother than ever. Total cost was 240€, but worth every penny to get rid of those awful Transmission problems. Thanks again for your help!

Implausible shifting behavior on an automatic, especially with the transmission light on, screams trouble. I had something similar happen on my old Passat, though it was a different engine. First thing I'd ask is, have you checked the transmission oil level lately? When was the last time you had a Transmission flush? Low fluid could definitely cause those Transmission problems, and affect Transmission performance. Also, have you scanned for any error codes besides the transmission light? That might give you a clue. Don't ignore the basics!
