Skoda Yeti Diesel air conditioning and error messages

I'm pulling my hair out! My Skoda Yeti, build year 2010 with a diesel engine, is throwing all sorts of fits. Error is stored in the error memory, plus I'm getting an error message in the speedometer. And the worst part? The air conditioning system refuses to turn on! Could this be the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger gone bad? I've read that a defective air conditioning control unit could also be the culprit. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A Skoda Yeti diesel from 2010 is experiencing issues with error messages and a non-functional air conditioning system. The problem might be due to a faulty temperature sensor on the heat exchanger or a defective air conditioning control unit. A similar case suggested that the temperature sensor could disrupt the cooling system, and a professional diagnosis confirmed the sensor as the issue. Replacing the sensor resolved the problem, restoring the air conditioning and eliminating error messages.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. The air conditioning system wouldn't kick on, and the dashboard lit up. Check the temperature sensor on your heat exchanger. If that sensor is kaput, it can mess with the whole cooling system and the HVAC system. Is the engine cooling working correctly?

Interesting. Where exactly is this temperature sensor located? And how did you figure out it was the sensor and not something else, like the air conditioning control unit itself?

Yep, sounds like the temperature sensor. Think of it like a thermostat in your house. If it's not reading the temperature correctly, the whole system goes haywire. In my case, the sensor calibration was off. The shop confirmed it with their diagnostic tools. They were initially thinking it was the air conditioning control unit too, but the sensor was the cheaper fix and thankfully did the trick. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a professional. Good luck!

Big thanks for the help! Took it to the shop, and you nailed it. Temperature sensor on the heat exchanger was toast. Ended up costing me 980€, ouch, but at least the engine cooling and HVAC system are back in action. No more error messages!
