Skoda Yeti Diesel Engine Problem

My 2009 Skoda Yeti diesel has a problem. I'm experiencing reduced engine power, rough engine running, and it jerks when accelerating. Also, there's a loud hissing sound when I accelerate and fuel consumption is higher. I suspect it might be the intake manifold flap control.

That sounds rough. Reduced power and jerking are never fun. A hissing sound makes me think about an air intake issue, like a leak somewhere. Has the engine light come on? I had similar engine misfire symptoms on my old car and it turned out to be a vacuum leak in the intake system. Made the engine performance terrible and fuel consumption went way up. Check for any loose hoses or cracks around the intake manifold. If you're lucky, it might be a simple fix.

Engine light is on, yes. Where exactly should I be looking for those hoses? I'm not too familiar with the intake system.

Okay, engine light plus hissing really points towards an air intake issue. Given it's the intake manifold flap control that you suspect, it's probably best to get it checked out by a workshop. It could be a defective switch, like you say. Messing with the air intake can be tricky, and you don't want to make it worse.

It was indeed the intake manifold flap control. The repair set me back 465€.
