Skoda Yeti Diesel power loss and smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Skoda Yeti diesel is experiencing power loss, smoke, and a warning light, potentially due to a low diesel particulate filter exhaust pressure. The issue may be caused by a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. A similar case with a Skoda Octavia suggested that a forced DPF regeneration might be a temporary fix, but a faulty sensor could be the root cause. Professional diagnostics confirmed the defective sensor, and its replacement resolved the problem.

Interesting. When you had that experience with your Octavia, did the forced DPF regeneration resolve the issue permanently, or did you need to replace any parts? Also, did your car show the exact same symptoms - warning light, reduced power and smoke?

In my case, the DPF regeneration only provided a temporary fix. The warning light and reduced power returned shortly after. Eventually, the workshop identified a faulty sensor related to the DPF. I'd suggest getting it professionally diagnosed to pinpoint the exact cause.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I followed your advice and took my Yeti to the workshop. The diagnostic confirmed a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. After replacement, costing 245€, the issue seems to be resolved. No more warning lights, reduced power, or smoke. Appreciated!

That sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my Skoda Octavia diesel. The reduced power and the exhaust smell were awful. Have you checked the diesel particulate filter at all? Maybe a forced DPF regeneration is needed?
