Skoda Yeti engine issues
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Skoda Yeti with a gasoline engine is experiencing poor starting, stalling at idle, and an illuminated check engine light. The error codes indicate a camshaft sensor failure, which can cause engine misfires and stalling. The issue was confirmed to be a defective camshaft sensor and an encoder wheel problem on the camshafts, which was resolved through repair.

Crankshaft position sensor, huh? What does that even do? And would that cause the same symptoms as a camshaft sensor failure? I'm getting engine misfire codes as well.

The crankshaft sensor tells the engine control unit (ECU) the position and speed of the crankshaft. The camshaft sensor does the same for the camshaft. If either is off, the engine control gets confused. It can cause misfires, stalling, all sorts of problems. But since yours is throwing a camshaft sensor code, that's probably it. Maybe take it to a workshop?

Thanks for the help. It turned out the camshaft sensor was indeed defective. The encoder wheel on the camshafts was the problem, just like you suspected. Cost me 695€ to get it fixed.

Whoa, sounds like a pain! I had a similar issue with my Skoda (not a Yeti though). The engine was acting all weird, stumbling and stalling. The check engine light was on too. For me, it was the crankshaft position sensor. Maybe get that checked too?
