Skoda Yeti engine temperature warning

I have a 2009 Skoda Yeti with a gasoline engine. The engine temperature warning light keeps coming on in the speedometer. I checked the error memory and it shows a problem with the oil temperature sensor. Now the oil pressure warning lamp lights up as well! Could this really just be the oil sensor, or is something else going on? Maybe the cable or plug connection is defective?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar thing happen with my old Renault Megane. Engine temperature warning light came on, but it turned out to be the oil temperature sensor. Could be a faulty temp sensor or maybe just a bad connection. Worth checking the wiring before anything else, maybe?

Thanks for the reply! How did you figure out it was the oil sensor and not something else? I'm a bit worried it could be something more serious, especially with the oil pressure light.

Well, in my case with the Megane, the error code pointed directly to the oil sensor. And since you have the same error plus the oil pressure light, it does sound like the temp sensor is the culprit or at least related. But honestly, with both lights on, it's probably best to get it checked by a mechanic. They can properly diagnose it.

I took it to the shop and you were right, it was the temp sensor! They said the cable was faulty. 95€ later and the Yeti is running smoothly again. Thanks for the help!
