Skoda Yeti Jerking and Stalling

I'm officially losing my mind over this Skoda Yeti It's a 2015 diesel with 223277 km on the clock, and it's driving me nuts. Lately, it's been jerking like crazy when I accelerate, the check engine light is on, and I've noticed a strong exhaust smell. I scanned for codes, and it's showing an intake manifold issue. Plus, it feels like the engine power is way down, and sometimes it even stalls at idle. It generally runs really rough. Could a defective car manifold really cause all this chaos? I'm thinking it might be scorching on the intake manifold, causing it to leak. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Skoda Yeti with 223,277 km was experiencing jerking during acceleration, a check engine light, a strong exhaust smell, reduced engine power, and occasional stalling. The issue was traced to a leaking intake manifold, likely caused by scorching. The suggested solution was to check for vacuum leaks and manifold pressure readings, with a recommendation to seek professional diagnosis and repair. Ultimately, the intake manifold was replaced, resolving the problem.

Sounds like you've got a vacuum leak somewhere in your intake system. The jerking, rough running, and stalling are all classic symptoms. The error code and check engine light confirm something's definitely amiss. Have you checked for any obvious cracks or damage to the intake manifold or any of the vacuum lines connected to it? What kind of manifold pressure readings are you getting?

Thanks for the quick reply I haven't checked the manifold myself yet, to be honest. I'm not really sure where to start. Vacuum leak is that like when a pipe bursts in your house and you lose water pressure? What exactly do you mean by 'manifold pressure readings'? Where would I even find those?

A vacuum leak in your intake manifold is like a hole in a straw – it messes up the pressure and air/fuel mixture the engine needs to run correctly. The scorching you suspect would cause exactly that. The symptoms you describe, combined with the error code, strongly point to a leaking intake manifold. Manifold pressure readings would confirm this, but you'd need a diagnostic tool to access those. Given the complexity, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic for a proper diagnosis and repair. It sounds like you're on the right track, but pinpointing the exact location of the leak and replacing the manifold is best left to professionals.

Skoda Yeti fixed I took it to the workshop. You were spot on the intake manifold was leaking. The scorching you mentioned was exactly what they found. Total cost was around 1180€, which stings, but at least it's running smoothly again. Thanks a million for your help!
