Skoda Yeti Overheating Issue

I'm having a perplexing issue regarding my 2016 Skoda Yeti with a gasoline engine. Lately, I have observed a trend of engine overheating. Upon closer inspection, it appears that the electric fan is not functioning as expected. Given the symptoms, my initial assessment points towards a potential defect within the cable or plug connection of this component. Could this indeed be the culprit, or are there other factors I should consider?

Sounds like a dodgy electric fan situation. Had something similar happen on my old Volvo, though the symptoms were slightly different. Check the fan motor and its wiring. Is the fan clutch engaging properly? It could be a simple electrical issue, like a frayed wire or corroded connector. Think of it like a loose lightbulb – sometimes it just needs a little wiggle to work.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'electrical issue', are we talking about something I can easily diagnose myself, or am I likely going to need specialized tools? I'm reasonably handy, but I don't want to get in over my head.

Yeah, 'electrical issue' could be anything from a loose plug you can fix yourself to a short in the wiring harness that requires more specialized knowledge. Given the age and mileage, a corroded connection is very likely. If you're not comfortable poking around with a multimeter, I'd suggest taking it to a trusted workshop. An impaired electric fan can quickly lead to serious engine damage. 95€ is a reasonable price to avoid that. They'll check the fan motor too.

Took your advice and went to the workshop. You were spot on! It was indeed a dodgy connection to the electric fan. They cleaned it up and secured it properly. Total cost was 95€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
