Skoda Yeti Power Steering Issue

My 2009 Skoda Yeti, gasoline engine, with 107421 km, has a power steering problem. The steering wheel vibrates, the handling feels spongy, and the steering effort is increased, sometimes like the power steering has failed. There's an error stored. Initial diagnostics suggest a bad cable or plug connection. Any diagnostic thoughts?

I had a similar problem with my Yeti; the steering felt really heavy. First, check the hydraulic fluid level. Is it low? Also, have you checked the pressure hose for leaks? Sometimes it's something simple. Does the power assist seem to cut in and out?

The hydraulic fluid level is correct, and I don't see any leaks on the pressure hose. The power assist does seem to cut out sometimes. Did you also have an error stored in the system memory?

Yes, it stored an error. If the fluid level is okay and there are no leaks, and given the intermittent nature, it sounds like an electrical issue or the steering pump is failing. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the electrical connections and the steering system. It's better than guessing.

Problem solved. It was a faulty cable connection, as initially suspected. The repair set me back 95€. Thanks for the advice.
