Skyline Fuel Consumption Poor Starting

Hey, I'm having some trouble with my 2000 Nissan Skyline (gasoline engine). It's got about 111921 km on it. Recently, I've noticed I'm burning through fuel like crazy and it's a real struggle to get it started sometimes. I've been reading about throttle cleaning, and I'm wondering if it's related to the throttle valve, maybe even the accelerator pedal module. Any ideas?

Man, that sounds familiar! I've got a Skyline myself, and had similar issues a while back. Higher fuel consumption and poor starting are a pain. Have you checked the throttle position sensor, and is the engine idle stable? A defective control valve can behave like that, it's a real gremlin!

Thanks for the reply! When you say throttle position sensor, how exactly would I check that? And, regarding the engine idle, it does seem a little rougher than usual, not as smooth as it used to be. Is there something specific I should be looking for with that control valve?

Okay, so if your idle's rough, it points even more to the throttle body being the issue. Honestly, checking the sensor can be tricky without the right tools. Given the symptoms, and the fact I also faced similar stuff, take it to a workshop. It’s like trying to diagnose a leaky faucet with a rubber chicken, sometimes you need a pro!

Appreciate the insight! Ended up taking it to a mechanic, and you were spot on. Turns out the accelerator pedal module was defective. Cost me about 205€ to get it sorted. Thanks again for the help, it pointed me in the right direction.
