SL Headlight Washer System Failure

My 2004 Mercedes SL with a gasoline engine has a headlight cleaning system that's stopped working, and now the windshield washer isn't spraying either. Is this a clogged line or a pump malfunction? Could it be a relay issue or a dodgy connection?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my SL. First, check the cable connections to the pump. They're known to corrode. Have you heard the pump trying to work when you activate the washers? If not, it might be the pump itself.

I haven't listened for the pump. Where is it located so I can listen? And which cable connections are you referring to?

On mine, the washer pump sits right next to the washer fluid reservoir. You'll probably have to remove some trim to get access. The connections I'm talking about are the electrical connector plugged directly into the pump motor. If you're not comfortable, a mechanic will sort it out quickly. Probably a faulty pump or a bad connection. Expect to pay around 165€.

Listened for the pump, nothing. Took it to the shop, and you nailed it – corroded connection. New connector fitted, all working again. Cost me exactly 165€. Appreciate the advice!
