SLC Heater Fan Issue

My 2017 Mercedes SLC with a diesel engine has developed an annoying issue. The fresh air blower is completely dead. The HVAC system isn't pushing any air at all, regardless of the fan speed setting. I've scanned the error memory and there's a fault code related to the blower motor. I'm suspecting the blower motor itself is defective, but before I start tearing things apart, I wanted to see if anyone else has encountered this. Has anyone experienced a similar problem with their heater fan? Any advice on diagnosing the fan speed controller or any other components of the air conditioning system that might be the culprit before I assume the motor is toast?

I had a similar problem with my SLC (though it's a different year). The air flow just stopped. I also suspected the blower motor, but did you check the blower motor resistor? That can cause similar symptoms and it's a cheaper fix than replacing the whole motor. Where did you read the error code from?

Interesting. I hadn't considered the resistor, but that's a good point. I used a generic OBD2 scanner to pull the code, so it wasn't a Mercedes-specific diagnostic tool. The code pointed directly to the blower motor circuit. Where is the resistor located on the SLC? Is it easy to access and test?

Yes, that's exactly what happened to mine. I had a similar code. I thought it was the resistor, but I ended up taking it to my workshop. They told me the blower motor was defective and they had to replace it. I would suggest you do the same.

Thanks for the information! It's helpful to know someone else had the same issue. I took your advice and had a workshop look at it. They confirmed it was the blower motor. Total cost for the repair, including parts and labor, was 365€. Everything is working again now.
