Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'similar', do you mean the entire climate control panel was dead, or just some functions weren't working? Also, where exactly is the climate control module located in the SM3?

Yes, the entire panel was unresponsive – exactly the same symptoms. I didn't fix it myself; I took it to a workshop. They said a cable or plug connection was defective. Cost me 95€ to sort out. I suggest going there before you start dismantling half the dashboard.

Okay, thanks a lot for the confirmation and advice! I'll take it to a local mechanic and see what they say. At least I have a better idea of what to tell them to look for now.

I had something similar happen in my SM3. Check the cable and plug connections. These cars are notorious for having dodgy electrical connectors. Start with the temperature sensor connections and then move to the blower motor. Could also be a power supply issue to the climate control module itself.
