SM3 Engine Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Renault SM3 is experiencing engine power loss, poor response, stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and unusual noises. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the turbocharger, specifically a defect in the wastegate valve. It is recommended to have a professional mechanic inspect and possibly replace the wastegate valve to resolve the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! The wastegate valve... is that something I can check myself, or is it better left to a mechanic?

Honestly, unless you're comfortable working on turbochargers, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. A faulty wastegate valve can cause serious issues if not addressed properly. It's likely the culprit, and you might be looking at replacing it.

Thanks a lot! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed a defect in the wastegate valve. The repair cost me 860€. I appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Renault Megane, not the same year though. Check your wastegate valve. The symptoms you're describing, especially the hissing and power loss, point to a possible defect there. Have you checked the MAP sensor or the throttle body?
