SM3 Engine Stalling and Check Engine Light

I have a 2018 Renault SM3 with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light illuminated, and the engine stalls at idle intermittently. My car has 182082 km on the clock. I suspect a leak in the fuel tank ventilation system. Could this be related to a defective activated charcoal filter? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I had a similar issue with my SM3. The check engine light and the stalling at idle sound very familiar. Have you noticed any change in your fuel efficiency or any unusual smells, like gasoline, when the car is running or parked? Check the pressure sensor, because if the air flow is not correct, it may cause a system failure. It's worth checking the easy stuff first.

Thanks for the reply. Regarding the fuel efficiency, it seems to have decreased slightly, but it's hard to say for sure. I haven't noticed any strong gasoline smells, though. Where exactly is the pressure sensor located? I'd like to inspect it before taking it to a mechanic.

The pressure sensor is usually located near the fuel tank or along the fuel vapor lines, but honestly, given the symptoms and mileage, it’s likely the charcoal filter. I went through all the DIY checks, and eventually, I had to replace the filter anyway. In my experience, it's best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop to confirm the leak detection before you start replacing parts.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were right, it was a defective activated charcoal filter. The total repair cost was 275€. I appreciate your help!
